Graduate – BA (Hons) In Interior Design Fakhri Ibrahim Travadi Fakhri completed the HND  in Interior Design and Interior Architecture with us here at The Design Ecademy. He then went on to successfully complete the final top up year to gain a BA (Hons) in Interior Design with our Educational Partners. The knowledge I gained while pursuing HND helped me step my feet in self-employment, I recently completed a Bachelors degree & I look forward to doing masters in interior design and develop my work in the further. Fakhri now has his own Interior Design business in Kuwait servicing both residential and commercial clients. Have a look at one of his major projects Krushna Kumarsinhji Town Hall in Bhavnagar City. Below is the story about my academic and professional journey :-   After finishing my school, I enrolled for a bachelor of commerce course. Myself being an artist, it was a wrong choice for me and thus I left the degree in between and enrolled for a 2 years  certified course in 3D animation in advance cinematic. I thoroughly enjoyed it and finished it with a top grade from a private institute in India. Due to family needs and requirements, I left India and came to Kuwait to live with my parents. After arriving to Kuwait I immediately found a job as a 3d Visualizer in an interior designing firm in year 2005, since then I was being associated with several architects and interior designers and rendered their vision by producing realistic 3d views for interior/exterior.   During this period, I developed a keen interest in interior designing and decided to educate myself in it. I had planned to take a break from work and go to India to pursue my further studies but then over the internet I found about The Design Ecademy and after evaluating its credibility I decided to purse a distance learning program, HND in Interior designing. By not disturbing my professional life, it gave me an opportunity to study on my own pace and at my convenient time. I dedicatedly finished HND, learnt a great deal of designing knowledge with the help academy manuals and and the very supporting tutors who were always prompt to reply my queries. On the completion of HND my job status increased and  I was promoted to the position of Interior Designer. After being employed for a while as an Interior Designer, I decided to go on my own and be a self employed interior designer. The knowledge I gained while pursuing HND and the PR which I built during my work tenure, helped me step my feet in self employment.  Initially I only did designing projects but then gradually...

“I am glad I did my Interior Design & Architecture training with The Design Ecademy, I have learnt more than I ever imagined to learn from an online course.”   What made you choose The Design Ecademy ? After searching through many online interior design courses and getting accepted at Canberra University into Interior Architecture, I came across The Design Ecademy. I was drawn by the course format as it is in-depth and practical in the skills required to practice interior design. Each assignment promoted research and learning AND allowed me to thoroughly explore my creativity. Being an online course, it allowed me to apply my skills as I was studying and run my business at the same time. Additionally, this flexibility of study taught me project management skills as I needed to plan my study time and stick to it in order to ensure that I got maximum benefit from each assignment while completing them in a timely manner.   What part of the course you like best? I thoroughly enjoyed the entire course and learnt more than I had anticipated. I particularly enjoyed learning about colour, history of interior design as well as learning new drawing and rendering skills. The drawing and rendering assignments were new challenges that pushed me more than any other part of the course, but I learned invaluable skills. If I had to re-do a course in interior design, I would do it with The Design Ecademy 100 times over.   Why are you studying interior design? For as long as I can remember, interior design had always been the one field that I was deeply passionate about and it completely resonated with me. Initially after high school, I was studying accounting, but, two years into my course, I dropped it as I hated every minute of it. I started my own small painting business and found so much joy and fulfilment helping people select colours. As customer requests started growing into design consultations, I decided to pursue my true passion and learn how to design spaces that are aesthetically appealing yet functional. Warm Regards   Stella...

Why did you choose  to study with The Design Ecademy ? I chose The Design Ecademy for several reasons. First and foremost I needed a program that could work around my schedule. It was also very helpful that I was able to do this from the comfort of my own home.  This was especially good considering I have a full-time job, a son, three dogs, a partner, and two homes that I maintain. My schedule needs to be flexible and the more I am able to be based out of my home the better. In addition to this, I did some research on Maria and found that she is a specialist on color, she even wrote a book on this.  I pride myself on having a really good eye for color, always have.  I think this will be one of my specialities when working with clients. Choosing color is one of my favorite parts of the process. So, in finding out that Maria is all about “Color” I knew it was meant to be. Lastly, I would have to say that I needed a more relaxed atmosphere, one where I could focus on being as creative as I could be and it not being a competition. I already have the creativity in me, always have, I just needed a program where I could learn how to channel that into working with actual clients. I found everything I needed at The Design Ecademy.   What part of the course do you like best? I would have to say that my favorite part thus far is getting to work with Maria herself.  Maria is a pleasure to learn from, and she is very supportive and encouraging – getting us to think outside the box.  I feel that she has really opened her up arms to welcome us all to the course and her main goal is to make US successful…and that goes a long way. I would have to say one of the best parts of the course is being able to take what we have learned from a lesson and apply it to paper. After I did my first drawing, which I was scared to death to do, I was hooked…I wanted to draw more.  Something I’d always loved doing – I would now be able to do all the time…and the best part of it is getting paid for it.   Why are you studying interior design? Growing up in the Midwest of the United States I was told that I needed to pursue a career that would earn me a lot of money, enough to support a family.  It...

“Embarking on this design journey with The Design Ecademy is one of the best decisions I have ever taken. The course has surpassed my expectations in every single way.” I chose The Design Ecademy  because the courses are accredited and offer a lot of flexibility which is crucial for me. The content is amazing – very well structured, very practical and down to the point. The workload is serious, and the work is challenging. What I like most about this course is that it gives me all the practical skills and knowledge I need to work as a designer, but I don’t feel it is superficial in any way– I am constantly reminded of the depth and all the amazing possibilities this field offers. I also love my tutor – she is incredibly knowledgeable, generous and supportive. Her encouragement has been a lifesaver at times, when the work gets really challenging. (Truthfully I hadn’t drawn a thing in my life before I enrolled and I have a natural aversion to geometry, so I might find it more challenging than most). I am so happy that I get to push my boundaries and learn and get better every day, I don’t want to imagine my life without it. And I humbly admit that I have already started getting professional design work (outside of friends and family). I am now in the beginning of my second year and really look forward to seeing where this journey will take me. I haven’t always known that I have a passion for interior design, in fact it came into my life through serendipity. When I was starting my first business some years ago I noticed that I was paying much more attention to every little detail of the interior of the place, instead of focusing on other “more important” aspects of the business. The pattern repeated with my subsequent ideas and by that point, I knew that interior design is something that I am really curious about. I felt that it is a “language” I wanted to be fluent in, but I was lacking the tools, so I decided to do something about it.  ...
